How credits work

How core features use Credits

Credits give text, document, PDF, and image translation one consistent billing system. You will see the exact amount reserved before each job, and failed jobs are refunded automatically.

Core featureCredit rateWhat is counted
Text translation1 Credit / 2,000 charactersCounts source-text characters and rounds up to the next 2,000-character unit. Every request uses at least 1 Credit.
Document translation1 Credit / pageWord, PowerPoint, Excel, EPUB, subtitle, and structured files use extracted source text. Every 2,000 characters count as 1 standard page, rounded up.
PDF translation10 Credits / pageCounts pages identified during file analysis, with a minimum charge of 150 Credits per PDF.
Image translation6 Credits / imageEach supported image uses a flat 6 Credits for the current medium-quality GPT Image edit.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How many document pages can I translate with my plan?

A standard document page is estimated at about 2,000 source characters, so 1 Credit is roughly 1 page. Basic, Pro, and Max therefore cover about 300, 1,000, and 2,500 standard document pages per month. This is an estimate: ordinary document and text translations are charged from the actual source-character count and rounded up.

How are Credits estimated and charged?

After upload, we analyze your file and show an estimated Credit cost before you confirm. The amount is recalculated and reserved when the translation task is created. Successful jobs use the reserved Credits, while failed jobs are refunded automatically.

Why are PDFs priced differently?

PDF translation costs 10 Credits per analyzed page, with a minimum charge of 150 Credits per PDF. We show the detected page count and estimate before you start. The standard 1-Credit-per-page estimate for ordinary documents does not apply to PDFs.

Which file formats are supported?

Supported formats include PDF, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, EPUB, TXT, Markdown, CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, SRT, VTT, PNG, JPG, WebP, HEIC, and HEIF. Maximum upload size depends on your plan. Password-protected, corrupted, or non-standard files may fail validation.

Will the translated file keep its original formatting?

We preserve the original layout, fonts, images, sheets, slides, and document structure whenever the format allows. Longer translated text, custom fonts, complex tables, charts, or unusual layouts can still cause small shifts, so review the result before publishing.

Can you translate scanned PDFs and text inside images?

Yes, supported PDFs and images can be translated, but recognition quality depends on the source. Clear, upright, high-resolution scans work best. Blurry pages, handwriting, complex diagrams, and CAD-exported PDFs may produce incomplete or less accurate results.

How long does document translation take?

Processing time depends on file size, page count, format complexity, and current queue load. Small documents usually finish sooner, while large PDFs and spreadsheets can take longer. You can leave the task page and return after processing completes.

Can I download my files again later?

Yes. My Files keeps your uploaded originals and translated results together, with download links for both. We still recommend keeping your own backup of important documents.

Do all plans include the same translation tools?

Yes. Basic, Pro, and Max all support text, documents, PDFs, images, and subtitles. Higher plans provide more monthly Credits, larger file limits, more concurrent jobs, and higher processing priority.

Can I cancel or change my plan?

Yes. You can manage your subscription or cancel renewal from your account. Any billing change and its effective date are shown before you confirm.

Should I review a machine-translated document?

Yes. AI and machine translation can make mistakes. Review names, numbers, terminology, tables, and formatting carefully—especially before using a translation for legal, medical, financial, academic, or published work.

How are files stored, and who can access them?

Files are transferred over encrypted connections and stored under unique, hard-to-guess access links so you can preview and download them from My Files. They are not listed to other users. Keep file links private and avoid uploading highly sensitive documents.
